One Nation Under God?

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” - Matthew 6:24 (emphasis mine)

Here are some links that provide interesting information concerning the United States and its history regarding some of its symbols and identifying icons you may or may not know about. These links open in another window browser. If and when you have time, click on them and read them with prayerful consideration and with God’s Word (the Bible) in mind concerning what He expects of those who claim to believe in Him and serve Him. The sites that are Christian do not necessarily reflect my own personal views on Biblical matters such as prophecy and the like, I just wanted you to get a Christian POV on some of these matters. After that, below is a letter I wrote to someone who did not believe this was an issue to be of concern over. If you find something I have written you don't agree with, please don't stop reading, read the whole thing first, then pray, read your Bible and honestly reflect before confronting me. I’ll leave it to you and God to decide if the knowledge you garner from these sites and my letter expressing my viewpoint on the matter is something you as a Christian should take to heart and do something about (e.g., praying and repenting, teaching, and changing any aspects of your lifestyle). God bless you!

Below is my letter that was in response to the view these things should not concern Christians.

I'm not saying we shouldn't pay taxes....I'm not saying we should revolt civilly or otherwise. I'm not saying we shouldn't be obedient to our laws and those in authority over us either in the Church or in government. In fact, not only should we be obedient, we should speak positively of them when possible, remain silent if it's only negative, and continually pray for their salvation and that they obey the will of God (Hebrews 13:17). I'm saying the Church is being lied to in that they are of God even though they are not doing God's will: share the gospel and testify about Christ (Mark 16:15), and feed and clothe the poor, tend to the sick, visit those in prisons (Matthew 25:31-46), and STAY OUT OF THE WORLD and avoids its ways at all costs (1 John 2:15)!! We are being taught our culture is a Godly one by our PASTORS!

I'm saying is that the Body of Christ, the Church, the Bride of Christ has been seduced by the Western (mostly American) culture of pursuing wealth and sex. And they believe it's GODLY!

Think about it: even the "Godliest" pastors out there charge money for CD's of their sermons and for their books. They write sermons or books supposedly inspired by the Holy Spirit, then charge people money to hear their message.

The other issue: the divorce rate (something God hates according to Malachi 2:10-16) is as high for those in the Church as it is for those not in Church. The Church condones this and even allows people who claim to be Christians yet who have been divorced (sometimes multiple times) to retain positions of authority in the Church. (Google Paula White for one example). And most Christians think this is okay. Contrast that with what Paul wrote in Titus 1:6-9.

Most Christians are being taught and led by the pied piper that we are one Nation Under God and if we just vote for the "right" person God will bless us. In the meantime we overspend to support the lifestyles we want, allow people to go hungry around the world or even just on our block, watch shows and movies depicting sex outside of marriage and acts of violence and we think it's okay. We live in a culture that promotes the pursuit of material things and hot lustful sex and we not only say nothing about Jesus Christ to those that are lost (testifying about Christ), we participate by watching these things and spending our money on ourselves more than on others or on Godly things and yet we still call ourselves "One Nation Under God" and Christians. In the meantime, our patron GODDESS is Libertas/Columbia/Ishtar. By their fruits (actions) you will know them....(Matthew 7:16)

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4:

4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

People are being deceived by "the god of this world" Satan. What are we Christians doing about it to bring those who don't believe to the full knowledge of Christ?

In I John 2:17:

17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

We are just like the world and pursuing things that are temporal and not what matters in eternity!

In 1 Peter 1:13 it says: 13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Holy means to be set apart. Christians in our country do not live as "set apart". They have conformed to this world and its fleshly culture and they are being taught they are still "holy" simply because of where they live, here in America, "One Nation Under God."

In Romans 12:2 it says:

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Yet not only do we act just like the rest of this world, we falsely believe our Country is "special" and "Godly" even though Ishtar sits on our Capitol Dome and in our most famous harbor and we HAIL her as a beacon of light and freedom. I've seen the Statue of Liberty's images in Churches and Christian homes (especially around the time of our patriotic holidays)! Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 3:18). He is the image of His Father (John 14:5-14), that is God the God of Heaven. Now if God was jealous with the Israelites prior to Christ’s death and resurrection and didn't want them to be around graven images of other gods and punished them severely for it way back when (Exodus 20:4-6), then He STILL abhors Ishtar or other graven images and will punish nations that embrace them even if it's not an official religion but just a fabric of their culture. Proof that ALL nations will be judged and eventually fall:

In Daniel 2:44 it reads:

44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.

Yet even though the Bible teaches that all other governments will fall when God's eternal Kingdom is set up, Christians still desperately pursue politics and the "right" leader in order to keep this country going and to keep pursuing wealth and sex. Most people vote out of fear and anxiety over their money, safety and security, and freedom/rights. Things Jesus taught His followers to not worry about in Matthew 6. And our RELIGIOUS LEADERS encourage them to do so. "It's your civic duty be be informed and then vote." Yet these RELIGIOUS LEADERS do not teach their flock to teach the gospel (witness and testify) at every opportunity, to feed and clothe the poor at every opportunity, to visit those in prison, and to worship and praise as often as possible. In short, the mainstream Church does not teach Christians to do this:

From Acts 4:32

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

Why are we not being taught to do these things as Believers? Because we are under the influence of Ishtar (ultimately Satan himself) and even our RELIGIOUS LEADERS are under her spell. True Believers must repent of their idolatry and materialistic ways, renounce the ways of the world we've been following, resolve to preach the gospel at every turn, and help others in need at every given opportunity and not immerse themselves in this culture of sex, greed, and violence as depicted in our entertainment industry.

Until we confront the fact our country is not a Nation under the TRUE GOD, but of a Pagan one (Ishtar), most of the Church here in the United States WILL be lost. Read Revelation Chapter 2!

Blessings,

Heather

PS: I think we Believers finally need to face just how pervasive “Ishtar’s” influence is in our own individual lives and in our local churches. Preachers/teachers/elders and the like are very often divorced (sometimes more than once) even though they were supposedly Christian when they got those divorces. Now in some churches, there are Sunday School teachers and the like openly living with someone they are not married to (fornication). Several protestant denominations are either considering or have already added to their bylaws that celibacy for non-married Pastors is not necessary. And the list of sexual behaviors that God disapproves of, but are being condoned and celebrated by our culture and now in the Church of today goes on.

As far as material and money issues, we as a nation produce enough food to feed the world several times over, yet thousands of children all over the world will die within the next 24 hours. Churches large and small stand mostly empty except for on Sunday and in the meantime, homeless are sleeping out on the street. The average American spends more than they earn thanks to credit cards and bank loans despite God’s views on stewardship. Even some churches have turned to loans and other forms of credit to expand or “improve” their buildings and land and now carry high debt. In the meantime, many in their congregation are unemployed and struggling to make ends meet.

Finally, very often Christians spend more time watching TV shows that depict immoral sexual behavior and violence more than they do reading and studying the Bible and worshipping and praising God during any given week. Yet we still claim to be one nation under God?

My question to you dear reader is this, what do we the Church do about our attitude towards God’s Word and our behavior in this decadent culture? What do YOU as an individual who claims to believe in and follow Christ plan to do about it (if anything)?

I pray that you will hear the Holy Spirit’s prompting and that you will fervently pray on these matters, read God’s Word, His Holy Bible, truly study what He says about how we should live, and that you will feel a deeper sense of commitment to living a life as a Believer in Christ that God commanded and Christ taught us to do:

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” - Luke 10:27

Amen.
